Capturing stories as journalism transitions to the future
This is a home for the Day of Design project.
In 1993, five members of the Society of Newspaper Design sent a letter to hundreds of newspapers. We asked for a copy of the Wednesday, Feb. 10 newspaper and for some information about the newspaper, including circulation and staff size. Below, a grid of most of the papers we have collected from 1993. Click on a newspaper below to see how they look in 2013. Some papers sent along newsroom pictures and a note about their of design philosophy. (For 2013, we used mostly Feb. 10 fronts. However, sometimes we used the Feb. 8 issue if there was no Sunday edition.) We also have a list of all the papers.
